Tharuni-Workshop on P.C.P.N.D.T.Act- I. E. C . Project at Mahbubabad on 10th May 2013

Tharuni conducted  a oneday  Workshop on how to combat female foe'ticide and also to create awareness on P.C.P.N.D.T Act. to develop a healthy sex ratio among people on 10th May at Mahbubabad . Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Director Tharuni  presided the Workshop and enlightened the participants , about the Enactment.. Sri Bikshya Naik, Revenue Divisional Officer, Mahabubabad, Warangal District, reiterated the need of protecting our future generations by understanding the importance of prohibiting sex determination tests, as a social responsibility.He said , Science and Technology have to be used for genuine interest to protect the fetus, not for eliminating it. The problems of gender discrimination,illiteracy, drug addiction, child marriages are social evils, he stated. They are leading to poverty, female foe'ticide, sale of girl children , which need to be tackled soon. Dr. Mamatha spoke about the programs of Tharuni to save the girl child from all social evils.. The workshop was attended by Indian Medical Association President Dr. B. Nehru, Secretary Dr. T. Kumaraswamy, M. ArjunReddy, B. Venkatramulu, S.P.H.O. Lakshman Rao, ACDPO Mary, Usharani, ICDS supervisors, Asha workers, ANMs and Doctors, and Diagnostic Center Technicians from the Division. Dr. Mamatha also made a power point presentation on  female foeticide to enlighten the participants.

Tharuni in Jamba cloud 10K Run on 25-11-2012 at Hyd

United Way and Program International , Procam  International in association with Hyderabad  10 K Run Foundation organised 10 K and 7 K Races on the Necklace Road in the early hours of  25th December 2012 . It is not only Run about health and fitness , but also for  the cause of the needy , with the solidarity shown by the Corporate Companies supporting, identified  Non governmental Organisations.The Organizers of the Event were instrumental in collecting contributions from these companies, for the activities being conducted by the NGOs for the welfare of the community.
Tharuni is one of such NGOs  identified , which was privileged to actively participate in the 7 K  Maza Run from People's Plaza to Sanjeevaiah Park.  Half a dozen of Koya  tribal boys from Eturunagaaram  in Warangal District, represented Tharuni in their traditional attire,  attracted the people. Dr Mamatha, Executive Director,  Raghuveer, Surekha Adimulam, Thyaga Raj  Kovvali and Ailesh , from Tharuni  have actively participated in the event.
Tharuni was supported by Franklin Templeton India Services Ltd. identifying Tharuni working for the Girl child. Students from educational institutions and  Employees  from other companies like Fact sheet Ltd. and I Spice  supported Tharuni by wearing the T-Shirts provided. The slogan on the T-shirts 'Save the Girl child" went through strongly during the Run.
Tharuni distributed its new Brochures to the participants.

584 Leaders of Girls' Groups & 90 Boys Groups' Exposure visits

There are five hundred and eighty four Balika Sanghas and 90 Balura sanghas, in the four Mandals of Ghanpur, Dharma Sagar, Geesukonda and Deveruppula in Warangal  District, working under Tharuni. The leaders of both the groups are being taken on an exposure Visit to the Police Station, Post Office, Mandal Revenue Office, M.P.D.O's office, and primary Health Center to enlighten the Boys and Girls about the functioning of these offices.The leaders in turn explain to their groups about the importance of these offices in day today life.

Child Help Line Meeting at Thadvai on 29th August 2011

The Child Help Line Meeting was held at Thadvai in Warangal District, attended by the Tribal Girls of six schools to enlighten themselves about Children protection who are in distress, with the help of Toll Free Number of 1098.Tharuni Director Dr. Mamatha, Sub Inspector of Police Venkata Rathnam and Mandal Project Development Officer spoke about the importance of Child Help Line.

Kalajathas by Tharuni Cultural Team

Tharuni Cultural Team have given performances of kalajathas to stop child marriages and on empowerment of girl children, in forty two villages of four Mandals of Stn. Ghanpur, Geesukonda, Dharmasagar and Deveruppula in Warangal District, for the last two months.The concluding programme was held at Nelapogula Village in Deveruppula Mandal on 27th August 2011.
