Walkathan Rally at Warangal by Child Line , 20-11-2012

Walkathan Rally was conducted by Child Welfare committee and Child Line 1098 as part its Weekly Celebrations on child protection , from Police Head Quarters to the District Collectorate, on 20th November 2012, from 7 A.M.  I/C District Collector Pradyumna  was the Chief Guest to inaugurate the Walk. District Superintendent of Police, Rajeev Kumar  was the Guest of Honour  , who joined the gathering in the Walk, and spoke on the importance of rights and freedom of children to lead a healthy and rightful life in their childhood. C. W. C Chair person Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, highlighted, that the children can contact through  the toll free number 1098 , when they are in distress. Child Line Coordinator Sudershan explained  about the child line in detail, to the gathering. Juvenile Justice Board Member Renuka, CWC.Members Chakradhari, Thirupathi and Revathi Devi, Tharuni, Pragathi Seva Samithi, MARI, FMM,all Non Governmental Organisation Members, Police, I.C.D.S. officials, Anganwadi Workers, NSS volunteers ,along with their Coordinator Dr. Suresh B. Lal from Kakatiya University, Students from schools and colleges , more than five hundred people, participated in the  Rally.

Tharuni and CWC jointly felicitated the persons who helped and saved , rendering outstanding services to the children,  with ' Bala Rakshak' Mementoes, and shawls. District Collector and Superintendent of Police were also specially honoured for their concern and great service  for the child Protection.  All the participants took part in the signature compaign and oath taken for child protection.

Child Law Presentations at the Crime Meeting on 14th April 2012

Tharuni Director & CWC Chair Person Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer  attended the Crime Meeting of Warangal District Police, presided by the Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar on 14th April and made the following Presentations along with others. Children need to be protected from their vulnerability by the whole society, especially the Police.

Workshop on Juvenile Justice to Child Welfare Committees of A.P.


The Child Welfare Committees of Andhra Pradesh were invited to participate in the Workshop on Juvenile Justice on 28th January 2012 at A.P. Judicial Academy. The Hon'ble Chief Justice of High Court of Andhra Pradesh Sri Madan B. Lokur, Supreme Court Judge and senior Judges of A.P. High Court,Child Protection Specialist Sony Kutty George, All C.W.C. Chair Persons  and 115 CWC Members,Director of J.J.Act and Correctional Services Board Sri Kismat Kumar, Police Officers attended the Workshop.A.P Alliance for Child Rights and A.P. Judicial Academy collaborated to conduct the Seminar.

The Director of J.J Board  stated  that the Child Welfare Committee is the foundation of a Judicial pyramid having District Courts and the High Court working above it. CWC is the statutory body working independently  with judicial powers to protect the children.
Justice Lokur was amazed with the commitment and dedication shown by CWCs in the State to safeguard the rights of the children. He felt they lack sufficient human resources, stationary and infra structure and administrative costs and travel expenses which will be dealt by the Department soon..He advised the District Legal Services Authority to guide the CWC on legal  lacunae, and provide legal aid to Children. He also stressed to establish Advisory Committees under Sec.62 of J.J.Act.The workshop was very fruitful to discuss and understand the specific issues ,challenges and bottlenecks in the functioning of CWCs to protect the children.

Workshop on Effective implementation of J.J.Act by C.W.C on 6/09/11

The Child Welfare Committee, Warangal  District, organised a Workshop on effective implementation of Juvenile Justice Act on 6th September. A.L. Kismath kumar, Director, Juvenile Welfare and Correctional Services,was the Chief Guest on the occasion.He spoke in detail about the powers of C.W.C, Juvenile Justice Board and explained about Juvenile Justice Act 2006.
District Collector Rahul Bojja and Superintendent of Police Rajesh kumar ,I.P.S, spoke on the importance of child protection. Heads of line Departments like I.C.D.S. Labour Dept, Rajeev Vidya Mission Education, Health, Police,I.C.P.S.Members,N.G.Os  and Child Helpline Members attended the Workshop. C.W.C.Chair person Dr. Mamatha presented six months report on the activities  taken up by C.W.C in Warangal District.
